This week, students from the NMI’s Fall Capstone class presented pitches for their team projects. The students are picking up speed, determining what method and development goals are achievable. Thus far, they have come up with the core ideas and purposes for their projects, as well as potential features and practical uses. Most of the groups plan to develop mobile applications or native web applications. Others are creating interactive iBooks, as well as adding facebook apps and mobile extensions to their mobile apps. The main goal of the NMI is teaching its students to use new media to make the world a better place by influencing people’s daily habits and to promote healthier lifestyles. That said, many of the projects are focused on encouraging healthy eating habits, nutritional knowledge, sexual literacy, healthy sleep patterns, exercise and movement, and responsible and safe drinking habits. The media developments will be directed toward a range of ages from children to college students to adults and parents. The students are implementing creative strategies to get potential users excited about enhancing their lifestyle with healthy habits with incentives such as gamification and interactivity. We are excited to see the next stage in these student’s work!
